Alexa Littleton - Female Elite Black Belt Winner

Alexa began karate just a couple of months before her 10th birthday. She is 16 and is currently a second degree Black Belt. She studies with Shihan Michael Bernardo in London, Ontario. He is her mentor, her coach and one of her most important role models. He is a multiple World and NASKA champion.

Alexa was crazy for Karate right from the beginning, often training 7 days a week prior to Nationals or Worlds. Her favorite event is point sparring, next are the weapons categories and then continuous sparring and traditional forms.

At the age of 11, as a purple belt, Alexa went to her first World Championship in Ireland. She came home with two individual gold medals and one team gold. She has qualified and competed now in 5 World Championships. In addition to her results in Ireland in 2003, these are her additional medal outcomes:
2004 Switzerland 6 medals 3 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze
2005 Canada 2 medals 1 Gold, 1 Bronze
2006 Spain 3 medals 1 Gold
2007 Germany 4 medals 1 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze

Alexa competes regularly on our National Martial Arts Circuit and has participated in many NASKA tournaments.

Her role models and influences in her sport are Tammy Bernarndo, Connie Baker, Mike Palitti, Laura Schumacher, Andy Young and Claire Curcozza. Her karate posse, and those who push her hard to achieve more, include, Mark Santoro, Amanda Bently-DeSousa, Jerrica Mitchell, Imran Jaffer, Nick Merlin, Michael Daniluk and Jessica Noden.

Her advice to other young martial artists; work hard, practice, fight smart, listen and have fun.
