NASKA Canada starts the season with a sting at the International Cobra
St. Eustache, Quebec
On Saturday, April 10, 2010, Pierre Saulnier proudly presents the International Cobra Karate Championships in St. Eustache – minutes away from the historical Canadian city of Montreal. The rapidly growing tournament marks the first leg and official launch of NASKA Canada. With the abundance of talent that was present at the WKC Quebec Provincial qualifier back in February (which Saulnier also hosted), one could only imagine the scope and magnitude that this year’s International Cobra will be bringing to this country! With the tournament being held in the French capital of Canada, the tournament boasts an International flavour without actually leaving this side of the world. Not only can you experience strong competition against the Nation’s finest, you could also catch the pristine and historic sites that only Montreal can offer.
Pierre Saulnier and Karate Sunfuki have been reputed as one of the most dominant Sport Karate schools in Montreal today. Not only does Sunfuki and “L’Equipe Cobra” come out in large numbers, they also bring home the coveted hardware. At the last WKC World Championships in Dublin, Ireland, Karate Sunfuki unleashed their venom and managed to garner the most medals of all the schools representing the Canadian team. In addition, Karate Sunfuki also boasts a handful of students who frequent NASKA tournaments. One Sunfuki student already making waves this year is Marie-Eve DiCaire – making a formidable showing at this year’s Amerikick Internationals in Philadelphia in Women’s Fighting and Weapons.
This is a very highly anticipated event as it will mark the beginning of a new era in Canadian Sport Karate. Being the first tournament of the newly formed NASKA Canada and holding a NASKA “AA” rating, the event will definitely draw competitors in large numbers from Quebec and neighbouring province Ontario. It is also anticipated that several competitors from the upper Eastern United States will also be attending this event to get the challenge that this region is capable of delivering. This event will serve as the initial stepping stone for Canadian competitors to achieve the goal of being the FIRST OFFICIAL Canadian NASKA Champion in over 15 years. Not since the early 90’s has NASKA recognized a separate Canadian Champion and this year, many competitors will be vying for the bragging rights to be a piece of Canadian Sport Karate History. Be a part of it and mark SATURDAY, APRIL 10, 2010 on your event calendar. For more information, visit www.karatesunfuki.com.
